The book "Peepzshow" started with a camera and lot of curiosity,
and the people I happened to meet along the way.
For years, I have been photographing the people around me friends, strangers, musicians, artists,
characters from the streets and nightlife.
And those unexpected encounters that happen almost by accident.
Some encounters last only a few seconds.
Others stay with you.
The photographs became a way of holding on to those moments.
Over time, these personal photographs began to form a collection.
There was no fixed cast, no carefully constructed world and no real plan behind it
Just people, encounters, characters and moments that caught my attention.
Raw, spontaneous and sometimes a little strange.
At some point, I felt these images belonged together in a book.
That idea eventually became
Peepzshow a collection of photographs that is very much my own project and my own view of the people.
I have encountered along the way.
Through ZIMIHC, I got the opportunity to take the project one step further.
They gave me the chance to release the book and present the work as an exhibition at ZIMIHC in Utrecht.
That made the book release more than just a publication.
For a moment, the photographs left the pages and became part of a physical space.
The exhibition brought the images, the encounters and the people behind them together
that started as a personal collection into something I could share with an audience.
Peepzshow is ultimately a collection of faces, stories and moments I didn't want to forget.
A book about people, made from personal encounters.
A single encounter with someone inspiring can change your entire perspective.
